Dee Doocey, the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Olympics Spokesperson, commenting on the decision by the Sportsman's Association to urge volunteers to boycott London's 2012 Olympics said:
"This is a serious development in a sorry saga. I hope that the Olympic Board listen and learn. They must reconsider their decision to choose Woolwich as the temporary venue for shooting.
"Everyone involved in the sport in the UK wants shooting to be at Bisley as it will provide a lasting legacy for future generations. Bisley has proved time and time again that it can host major events including the shooting for the Commonweath Games in 2002.
"The site of Woolwich will merely be a temporary structure. It will leave no legacy for the sport and will simply be a huge waste of money. This is not what Londoners signed up to."
