Dee Doocey, the Liberal Democrat London Assembly policing spokesperson and member of the MPA commenting on the delay on the HM Inspectorate of Constabulary report into undercover policing said:
"It is almost beyond belief that an undercover Met police officer went through the criminal justice system pretending to be someone else.
"This makes a mockery of the judicial system which works on truth and justice.
"Some very serious questions now need to be answered:
"Was the officer authorised by his superiors to lie to the court about his identity?
"If so, who authorised this, why was it authorised and is this officer still working for the Met?
"If this was authorised it is a monumental misjudgement by the Met and I shall be asking the Commissioner these questions at the next meeting of the Metropolitan Police Authority next Thursday."
