Olympic legacy promises must start with the Olympic stadium12.08.15pm GMT Wed 10th Mar 2010 Dee Doocey, the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Olympics Spokesperson, commenting on the replies she received today from her questions to Baroness Ford (Chair of the Olympic Park Legacy Company) about the future of the Olympic stadium said: "I welcome Baroness Ford's clear assurances that a wide range of options are now being considered about the long term use of the stadium, although I regret that the process is still being constrained by the need to provide an athletics legacy within the stadium. This will almost certainly reduce interest from commercial developers. "It is vital that we do not close down options over the future use of the stadium. A blinkered approach could lead to the stadium being rarely used with the result that it becomes an expensive white elephant for the taxpayer. "The sooner we have firm proposals for the future use of the stadium the better it will be in terms of ensuring a real sporting legacy."
